Giving Voice to Local Climate Champions!

Everyday Climate Champions features inspiring and insightful conversations with San Francisco Bay Area community members taking bold climate action. They’re acting NOW: at home, work, school, community, and policy levels. Both educational and motivational, the 15-minute podcast episodes support everyone in becoming a climate champion.

You’ll always find fact-based ideas, examples, and encouragement to shift to 21st-century climate-smart living. Our podcast aims to ensure that all voices are heard, prioritizing people from frontline and historically marginalized communities. We focus on effective local solutions and helpful insights, recognizing any limitations. While Everyday Climate Champions is specific to the San Francisco Bay Area, much of the information is relevant beyond the local region.

We started this podcast to highlight the incredible work being done by ordinary people who are making a difference. By sharing these stories, we aim to inspire others and provide practical resources for those who want to get involved.

Each episode features conversations with local climate heroes who are transforming concern into effective climate resilience and restoration. We believe that everyone has a role to play, and we’re here to help you find yours.

Our Mission

Our mission is to shine a light on what’s working locally, grounded in our community residents’ cultures and contexts. We feature our neighbors – children, adults, and seniors – and prioritize those who often go unheard in climate conversations. You can count on us to do extensive background research and cite our sources. And we deliver it all in bite-sized episodes (about 15 minutes each) that you can listen to on the go!

Our History

In March 2022, a volunteer team of climate-concerned “everyday” community members started to meet regularly to plan and produce the Everyday Climate Champions podcast. Many of our initial team members emerged from Climate Reality Bay Area, which generously incubated our fledgling group. Since then, the team has expanded to include several other adults and teens from cities throughout the Bay Area and beyond. We have published regular podcast episodes since September 2022, currently expanding to co-host community engagement events. In the fall of 2024, we become an independent “citizen journalism” project, fiscally sponsored by The Praxis Group.
